Hello Family!

As y'all know, there are many activities available to us while we are in Yellowstone this summer.

So, here are some of activities we thought would be fun for everyone:

• Chuckwagon - Old West Cookout @ Roosevelt

• All you can eat steak and sides after a scenic ride through the Roosevelt valley.  
• 1 hour horseback rides - 240 lb. weight limit;
  Adults 12 and up = $75
  Kids 8 - 11 = $58
  (Under 8 must ride in Chuckwagon)
• Chuckwagon Ride
  Adults 12 and up = $57
  Kids 11 and under = $46

• Bike Rental at Old Faithful

• Rent a bike at Old Faithful Lodge, then come back for the show and some ice cream :)
• 3 - 21 miles depending on the trail and difficulty
• Adult Bike = $8/hr.
• Child Bike = $6/hr.

• Lake Activities

• Scenic Cruise

• 1 hour guided tour on Yellowstone Lake around Stevenson Island; Includes history and bird watching as part of the cruise experience.

Snake River Raft Trip

I would love to go on a scenic (that's the one WITHOUT the white water) rafting trip while in Jackson Hole.  Below are two companies that offer Snake River trips.  I know we used Barker Ewing last time we all went together.  What do y'all think?

Helpful Yellowstone Apps

So, I searched for Yellowstone Apps on my phone and found 3 that I really like and would be super useful.  If y'all find more, let us know!


1. Chimani::Yellowstone is a cool app with every event that happens in the park.  There's also ideas of what activities groups or individuals can do while at Yellowstone.  (It's free!)



2. Old Faithful Countdown App is another useful app that counts down each eruption of Old Faithful so you know you won't miss one.

 

3.  YNP Wildlife is my favorite free app that I've found on  Yellowstone.  You do have to create an account, but it's free and they don't send any spam.  Once you create your account, you can instantly view updates on where other vacationers have found animals across the park.  This will be SUPER useful on our morning animal excursions through the park.

YELLOWSTONE 2013!!!

Hey Family!


I started this blog so that we can update everyone on the progress of the trip and share ideas.  I've been talking with Mom and Maren quite a lot the past week or so, talking about things we want out of the big Yellowstone trip. 

I want to make new memories with everyone.  We live so far away from each other, it makes it very difficult to see everyone and communicate sometimes, so this is a great opportunity for us to grow closer together as a family.

Matt is coming home in just 11 short months.  I want our family to be closer than ever when he comes back, so we can all have a wonderful and memorable time in Yellowstone. I also want to be more fit so that I can hike, kayak, ride a horse, and have enough energy to do everything else that we want to do.

I know we all can do it.  Let's take these last 11 months and shed that extra weight, become closer and plan the best Yellowstone vacation ever!

I've made every person in the family an administrator for this blog, so feel free to post your ideas, updates or anything you want :)
